Radiography - Advanced Placement Track

A Career in Radiography Through Online Advanced Placement Track
The Pima Medical Institute's Advanced Placement Track Radiography program is offered online and is designed to provide students with the same course content offered in Pima Medical Institute's traditional classroom settings. The program is created for students who posses prior rediography education. Students meeting the admission criteria are granted 44.5 transfer credits for previous academic course work (9.0 credits) and clinical experience (35.5 credits).
Graduates of the Pima Medical Institute Advanced Placement Track Radiography program receive an Associate of Occupational Science degree and are eligible to apply to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification exam.
- In order to be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
- Document one of the following:
- Graduation from a United States Military Radiography Program.
- Graduation from an approved or licensed Limited Scope Radiography program.
- Graduation from a JRCERT accredited Radiography program.
- Graduation from a foreign program in Radiography.
- 30 credits of completed coursework in an accredited or approved Radiography program.
- Submit official transcripts documenting a minimum of 30 credits and grades of C or better in all of the following courses:
- Radiographic positioning, exposure/techniques, physics, and protection.
- Three (3) credits of college-level mathematics. Credit will be granted for previous education within five (5) years or by successfully completing Pima Medical Institute’s Math Applications (DPM 203) online class prior to entering Semester II courses.

- Document a minimum of 1,600 hours of clinical experience in radiography gained through education and/or employment within the past six years.
- Experience gained through an educational program must be verified by the Program Director of the program from which the applicant graduated.
- Experience gained through employment must be verified by an ARRT registered Radiologic Technologist or an AMA Board Certified Radiologist who has supervised the student in a clinical setting. Individuals providing documentation verified by a radiologist certified by a foreign entity will be considered on an individual basis. Current professional credentials for the person(s) verifying the experience(s) must be included.

Online Radiography Program Description
The Advanced Placement Track Radiography program is accredited and is delivered via online classes using an Internet-based inactive learning management system. As a student of the program, you will be presented with information in anatomy and physiology, methods of patient care, medical terminology, radiographic techniques and communication.
You will also receive hands-on experience by completing an externship at a clinical site wherever you live.
Successful completion of Pima's online Advanced Placement Track Radiography program makes you eligible to apply to take the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists® (ARRT) Radiography certification exam.
