PIMA MEDICAL INSTITUTE HIRES FIRST RESPIRATORY THERAPY DIRECTOR

Albuquerque, NM – Christopher Zima To Head New Respiratory Therapy Program And Get Program Underway

Adults interested in a career in Respiratory Therapy can breath a little easier as Pima Medical Institute, 2201 San Pedro NE, Suite 100 recently hired Christopher Zima to serve as the first Respiratory Program Director at the Albuquerque campus. Zima will be in charge of getting the new Respiratory Therapy Program underway. Classes are scheduled to begin before the end of 2004.

Zima, who has more than 24 years of experience in the field of RT, has an extensive background in both academic and clinical settings. The certified Respiratory Therapist most recently served as a Research Coordinator for the Veterans Administration Medical Center and has served as a research coordinator, clinician, supervisor and educator.

Graduates of the 88 credit-hour Respiratory Therapy program receive an Associate of Occupational Science degree. The program will consist of classes in medical ethics, mathematics, chemistry, physics, human anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, advanced respiratory care techniques (including neonatal and adult special care procedures), general and advanced pharmacology, cardiopulmonary disease, patient assessment and the therapeutics that are required to function at the patient’s bedside in the hospital setting.

Additional programs at the Albuquerque campus include: Dental Assistant; Medical Assistant; Medical Secretary; Ophthalmic Medical Assistant; Pharmacy Technician; Physical Therapy Technician; Radiography and Veterinary Assistant.
