FUTURE SHINES BRIGHT FOR DENTAL ASSISTANTS
Tucson – Pima Medical Institute Predicts Increase in Dental Assistant Positions In Tucson
Students enrolled in the Dental Assistant program at Pima Medical Institute, 3350 E. Grant Road, Suite 200 have a lot to smile about. According to Stan Bodzioney, campus director for the Tucson career college, career opportunities are increasing in the field and new classes are scheduled to begin Nov. 15 and Nov. 22.
“A career as a Dental Assistant has many advantages,” said Bodzioney. “The training period is only 30 weeks for day classes for day classes, or 33 weeks for evening classes, working conditions are great, and the number of job openings continue to expand.”
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for Dental Assistants is expected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations through 2012. Job openings will continue to rise to replace others who transfer to other occupations, retire or leave the labor force for other reasons. Population growth and greater retention of natural teeth by middle age and older people will continue to fuel demand for dental services.
In addition to the Dental Assistant program the campus has programs for: Physical Therapist Assistant, Medical Assistant; Medical Administrative Assistant; Health Unit Coordinator; Pharmacy Technician; Phlebotomy Technician; Radiography; Respiratory Therapy and Veterinary Assistant.
